Misogyny didn't spend $618,000 on travel to the Beehive State

When not hiking in the woods and conveniently running into Democratic staffers, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is blaming everyone and everything for her election loss.

In an interview with The New York Times ’ Nicholas Kristof during the Women in the World Summit, Clinton again claimed that gender played a role in her defeat.

“Certainly, misogyny played a role. I mean, that just has to be admitted,” Clinton said. “And why and what the underlying reasons were is what I’m trying to parse out myself.”

She also blamed FBI Director James Comey and Wikileaks for her loss, taking only limited responsibility, in that she “certainly could have done better.”

Enter The Washington Post ’s Amber Phillips to claim “ Emilio Pucci Woman Sequined Silkchiffon Top Royal Blue Size 46 Emilio Pucci Cost Cheap Sale Outlet Store Professional For Sale Outlet Sneakernews CpXnlxR9n
” suggests Clinton is right about misogyny. Phillips cites a phone survey conducted by the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting progressive women in politics. Lee herself donated Metallic Crochetknit Socks Baby pink Missoni Shopping Online xaVvkTjT
to Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

The BLFF survey asked “likely” 2016 voters what makes a female politician likable and electable. What it found was mostly general stuff that applies to female and male politicians. For example, the survey revealedvoters prefer to see their candidate among constituents rather than posing for head shots.

Gee, no one would ever give a male candidate that advice! It’s not like every single mailer I receive about candidates—male or female—show them out among the people. Here he is with some construction workers. There she is in a factory. There he is in a classroom. There she is on a farm. This isn’t a gender thing.

The survey also found voters like when female politicians share personal anecdotes. Again, male candidates do this too (remember how many times Ohio Gov. John Kasich reminded voters he was the son of a mailman?). Voters don’t like it when a female politician takes all the credit for accomplishments. People don’t like when male candidates do this, either—especially when the candidate takes all the credit but none of the blame.

An obvious finding from the survey was that female politicians’ clothing and looks are scrutinized more than male politicians’. I’ve Classic Buster straightleg jeans Blue Diesel Sale Outlet Store Cheap Sale Pay With Visa Cheap Sale Sast ufCGwpUIV
about why women’s fashion choices are talked about more, and it’s because those choices are more interesting. Almost all male politicians dress the same: A dark suit with a red or blue tie. Boring. When one steps out from that (the example I used earlier was Sen. Marco Rubio’s Beatle boots), it gets talked about.

Charlize Theron in Tully

**Spoiler Alert:Details of the Movie Tully are shared in this blog**

When the team at Northern Mama first saw the preview for the movie Tully , we were JAZZED. It seemed as though there was finally going to be an honest, real-lifemovie about motherhood that women could connect with.

The movie looked so great we decided to get the moms in our community together to watch it as a #momtribe. We contacted SilverCity Sudbury and got the plans in motion to do a private screening when it was released. We were very excited about this event. We also reached out to some local businesses that we thought would be interested in getting involved with this event to get the ball rolling.

The Review

Then we saw this review . Our hearts sank and throats clenched as we read it.

The real twist is not the sex with the nanny — the real twist is that the entire character of Tully is in Marlo’s head.

Yes, she created an entire person.

As a survivor of maternal mental illness I am now LIVID. All I can think about are the survivors of postpartum psychosis, the mothers living with dissociative disorders and personality disorders, the moms living with bi-polar. They are not your f*cking plot twist, Hollywood.

And just like that our plans of bringing together the moms of our community to watch this film went up in flames. Maternal Mental Health is at the heart of every inch of support that we provide here at Northern Mama, and it is not something we ever want to see used simply for dramatic effect.

Diana Spalding shared on Motherly a review of the film , the details of what the main character Marlo’s symptoms were, including delusions, strange beliefs and hallucinations. While a doctor in the film mentions that she has postpartum depression, Spalding explains that her symptoms are more in line with a diagnosis of postpartum psychosis.

Both postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis are a form of Perinatal Mental Health Disorders, but they are VERY different disorders.“Postpartum depression is characterized by feelings of anger, irritability, guilt, shame, hopelessness, and sadness, butdelusions, strange beliefs and hallucinationsare symptoms more in line with a diagnosis of postpartum psychosis, as are cases of infanticide, according to Postpartum Support International (PSI).”

Postpartum depression affects 15-20% of women after having a baby, however postpartum psychosis is much rarer affecting 0.1-0.2% (1 or 2 of every 1000).“As with all mental illness, it’s essential that we do not make any blanket statements about women with PPP because everyone’s story is different. That said, postpartum psychosis“can lead to devastating consequences in which the safety and well-being of the affected mother and her offspring are jeopardized,” according to Dr. Dorothy Sit and colleagues.”
